The most common ficus tree is the Ficus Tree, also commonly known as
the weeping fig. One of the most popular houseplants in existence is
the ficus benjamina and there are more cultivars or varietal types of
benjamina also grown.
You'll find a Ficus tree in many sizes and shapes. Here are just a
few examples. There are variegated varieties like 'Jacqueline', miniatures
such as 'TooLittle', tree shaped, bushes, dark green varieties - 'Midnight'
- light green, wavy or pendulous leaves. Most are sold in small pots
for home and office, but you can also find 30 foot specimens for shopping
malls or airport concourses.

All of these Ficus trees and have an elegant form with glossy leaves
and slender branches that fall gracefully around a light grey smooth
trunk. Ficus trees are relatively easy to maintain with some diffused
light indoors and proper feeding and watering.
A Ficus tree and be a forgiving plant that can suffer much abuse and
survive. It does let you know quickly when things aren't right when
the leaves start dropping off. It's the way a Ficus tree tells
you that it is in need of some attention. Whether its getting too
much water or not enough, leaf drop is the symptom it shows to get your

in appearance or not enough light will produce stretching and thinness.
The vast majority of Ficus are sold as indoor houseplants purchased
from your local supermarket or discount warehouse. These are generally
between 1 and 5 feet tall and can come in a tree form, bush, braided
or basket shaped. They even sell Ficus with a golf ball trapped behind
several braided trunks, the possibilities and varieties are virtually
endless.
